The Rarest Rolex Sapphire Sports Watch
The Rolex Explorer has been a staple of the Rolex sports watch collection since the 1950s and has been among the preferred watches for expeditions and adventures up to the highest peaks of the world. In the early 1990s Rolex introduced the sapphire glass 14270 Explorer with applied 3-6-9 numerals, where before they had always been painted. There were some early very rare examples that had black enamel filled numerals instead of regular luminous material. The experiment was short-lived and the watches were changed. Another interesting feature is that these dials have the text in silver print. This is a very rare and desirable watch made all the more special by the presence of the original boxes and papers and other accessories. The watch remains in stunning, unpolished condition and is a serious piece for the discerning collector. The watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
